He died after 4 Mar 1845 in Schuyler Co, IL.⁽¹⁷⁹⁾ Born in Maryland in 1755 and thereafter moved to Mecklenburg county NC.
Was in the Revolutionary War:
March 1775, he enlisted in Mecklenburg County under Captain John Fifer (Pfifer), Lieutenant Samuel Patton and Ensign William Houston and served for three months, marching about 100 miles to Cross Creek in North Carolina, where he was discharged. Rejoined the same year for 3 months under Captain Caleb Fifer and Lt. Willliam Houston, marched to the Cherokee Nation at the Valley towns and retured to Salisbury and discharged there. Reenlisted a few more times in Va and in NC for a total of 4 stints in the Revolution.

As Moses Justus himself stated in by documents accompanying his later pension application (1832): "I was living, at te time I (first) volunteered into the service, in the State of North Carolina, afterwards removed to Virginia, then moved to East Tennessee, then to West Tennessee, then to the State of Indiana, and then to Schuyler County in the State of Illinois, and then to McDonough County in the said state of Illinois where I now live."

"George W Justus and his wife came from Tennessee in 1828, and settled in the vicinity of Ridgeville. Of his children who are living (1882) are F.M., M.I., Martha A, widow of William Chatman, G.C., J.O.,and T.J. Justus. George W. Justus died in 1866, his wife, whose maiden name is Susan Bates, Died in 1864. Other Justus names are Catherine, James, Letty D.M., Thomas, Rhonda, I.W."

Was known for making quilts for all her grandchildren, especially for wedding gifts. The one she made for her grandson, Lewis B Skiles in 1886 at the age of 86 years is currently in my possession.

1850 Census. the next time I find Silas he is living
in paola KS and he is remarried to Sarah and has Three
more children. Francis and twin girls Luvenia and
Lorena. His second wife Sarah ? died shortly after
the census was taken and he moved his family back to
ILL. He then married a Sarah Cole in 1879 in Schuyler
Co. His daughters Margaret married Joseph Gragg in
1865. Luvenia married George W Hare in 1877 .and
Lenora married Charles Edward Lawler in 1886. Silas
died 16 May 1886 in Schuyler Co
Mary Ann Garrett died in Kansas before 1868 because
Silas married in 1870 to Sarah ? I have her name and
the date of marriage and death somewhere I am just not
going to look it up right now.

Children were: Margaret KIRKUM, Susanna KIRKUM, Francis KIRKUM, Lenora KIRKUM, Lorena KIRKUM.
