Will Book 1, pg 170-171. He died in 1789 in Henry Co, VA. He had an estate probated on 30 Mar 1789 in Martinsville, Henry Co, VA. Ralph's will, recorded in Will Book 1 page 170-171, Martinsville, Henry County Virginia, was dated 23 April 1787, and was presented in court of Henry County on 30 march 1789, and reads as follows:
To my son John Shelton five pounds sterling to cut him off from his heirship.
My four last children namely Easop Shelton, Abbegal Shelton, Mary Shelton, Liberty Shelton, shall by resid (sic) of my estate. The remainder part of my estate, lands and moveables to be equally divided between Ralph Shelton, Palitiah Shelton,Eliphaz Shelton, James Shelton, Ezekiah Shelton, Jerimiah Shelton, Azariah Shelton, Roger Shelton, Easop Shelton, Abbegal Shelton, Mary Shelton, Liberty Shelton, Katherine Rutherford, Sarah Robertson, Elizabeth
Arnold, Rina McGehe, Luranah Jones.

Per Janice Mauldin Castleman: "In 1745 Ralph Shelton, Jr. owned 400 acres in Armelia Co, VA, the records spelled his surename SKELTON. Ken Shelton, who wrote The Shelton Trek Across Kentucky, The Jistory of the Jeremiah Shelton Family of Kentucky and Missouri said that Ralph was mentioned in his mother's will in Amelia Co, VA., and he probably lived near her at this time."..."Ralph Shelton, Jr. had moved to Halifax Co, VA and he was in Henry Co, Va when it was formed in 1776/77. Ralph and his son Eliphaz are buried in the same cemetery. Ken wrote that Ralph listed 17 children in his will. There is also a belief that there was an Ebenezer Shelton who was Ralph's son. There is an Ebenezer on the 1800 Tax rolls of Kentucky, and he is in Butler Co, KY alon with Jeremiah Shelton, but no other records were found on him."

He was married to Mary DANIEL on 10 Jun 1731 in Midlesex Co, VA. From The Sheltons of England & America by M. C. Whitaker, 1941, page
206, we find that she has listed the birth, death, will, marriage and children
of Ralph Shelton, Jr. and his first wife Mary Daniel. His will was proved 30
Mar 1789. He lived in Amelia Co., VA for many years, then sold his land and
moved to Henry Co., VA by 1763. His second wife, Susannah (about whom
little is known), is mentioned in a deed shortly before his death which names
his last four children, Eason, Abigail, Mary, and Liberty Shelton to share
equally in his estate with his elder children. Other children named in the will
are sons Ralph, Palitiah, Eliphas, James, Hezekiah, Jeremiah, Azariah (who
married Sarah Holt and moved to TN), Roger, and John, his son whom he
cut off with a bequest of 25 pounds so that he could not claim kinship. The
daughters named are Katherine Rutherford, Sarah Robertson, Elizaeth
Arnold, Rina McGhee and Susannah Jones.

bullet Adam SHERRILL was born on 1 Nov 1731 in Cecil Co., MD. He died in 1787 in NC. Adam was a prominent man in his time, serving as constable of the area. He replaced William simpson on April 20, 1756. He held public office several times. He was one of the men from Lincoln County, who fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain on Oct. 7, 1780 during the revolutionary War. He also fought at the Battle of Boyd's Creek in 1788. Colonel Sevier, Bonnie Kate's husband, and forty men fought about 200 indians when they attacked the Sherrill Station. Adam broke several ribs during this attack by falling from his horse.

Adam, Jr. was instrumental in creating the State of Tennessee along with his brother Jacob Sherrill.

Adam died about 1795 at Sherrill Ford. His estate inventory dated Sept. 20, 1805 included:

8 negros, 9 horses, 21 hogs, 20 hear of cattle, 23 head of sheep, 1 waggon, 8 hind gears, 8 ploughts, 8 ploughing implements, 1 ford-tooth harrow, 5 hoes, 6 axes, 1 mattock, 2 iron wedges, 1 scythe and cradle, 5 sickle, 1 chiserl, 1 shovel, 1 spade, 1 auger, 5 potts, 3 skillets, 1 loom and tackling, 2 ovens, l gridiron, 6 beds and furniture, 2 truncks, 1 box, 1 cupboard, 1 table, 1 dresser, 9 charis, 3 pewter dishes, 12 pewter plates, 6 basons, 9 spoons, 1 set of tea ware, 15 bottles, 4 drinking glasses, 1 looking glass, 1 cloth coat, 4 spinning wheels, 30 bushels of corn, 1 pair of fine dogs.

In the name of God Amen, I Aquila Sherl of the County of Green and State of Tennessee being very sick and weake but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortalityof my body and that it is appointed for all men once to dye, do make this my last will and testament that is principally and first of all I recommend my sole to the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a christian decent manner, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall recieve the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching of such wordly estates wherewith it hath been pleasing to God to indow me with in this life. I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First of all, my debts is to be paid out of my moveable estates. Secondly I give to my son Elisha Sherl my black boy, called Tobe, and then an equal share of the rest of my estate. Thirdly, I give to my wife Lucresey Sherl my horse called Whaiteman and our cow and she must let my granddaughter louise have part of the use of the horse sometimes when she is not wanting to use him herself and my granddaughter Lavine must have her cow known by the name of her cow also I give and bequeath to my wife Lucresy Sherl and Vine my granddaughter all my household furniture then all the rest of my movable property and negros are to be sold at publick sale by my Executors and also all my land at public sale to be sold by my Executor at one years credit and then the hold amount of my estate before mentioned for to be sold to be collected by me Executor and that to be divided in equal shares between my wife Lucrece Cherl and my son elisah Sherl and Abenton Sherl and Abraham Sherl and Isaac Sherl and my daughter Hulde Wilson and rachel Loyd and Ruth Pryer and Marget Wilson and Vilet Hutcheson and my granddaughter Lavina. also I do appoint Giles Parman Esquire my lawful Executor to this my last will and testament, and I do hereby utterly disavow, revoke and disannull all and every other Testaments, will, Legaces and bequeath heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
