My father and mother immigrated into the United States in the 1940's. My father was from Montemorelos, and my mother was from Tampico. As far back as I can remember, we have always lived in the U.S.; my father died when we were all young, and at that time his stories didn't mean much to me, but now when I think back to those stories I wish I had recorded his stories. His stories were about Mexico and how much he missed his homeland, but he truly loved the United States, and so did my mother who recently passed away. We are proud of our heritage, and proud of the fact that both my parents had become American Citizens by the time they died.
We grew up in Harlingen, Texas; now that we are all grown up with
families of our own; some of us live as far as California, and Florida, but the rest of us live in Texas!!!
