A story told to Ruthi by Emory Coleman on 13 October 1995 was as follows: James Chambers left Dora since she was a triflying woman. One night Dora's barn burned down and she went over to John Coleman's place (apparently, he lived nearby) and they argued in the yard. John Coleman shot her dead and then shot himself and committed suicide. Dora's sister (Nancy) had married this John Coleman and Nancy had died mysteriously in 1889.
