Book #1 called the Heritage of Wilkes Co., the following comment was found contributed by Pauline Jarvis Clark: "Legend is that Abram Henderson, great grandfather of Eulora Jarvis, was a man of wealth who had bought property in Iredell County. While bringing his wife and two children by wagon FROM KENTUCKY, he went ahead scouting the road. It is believed he was robbed and killed. Only his hat was found in New River. The family came onto Iredell and started a new life."

Apparently, this obit. didn't get all the info. so on 13 Sept., 1923 this was in the paper: "Mr. M.J. Henderson, of Lovelace P.O., d. 1 Sept. Age 82 yrs., 10 mos., 26 days. m. Miss Rhoda Souther 17 Jan., 1867, 7 ch. 2 sons, 5 daus. l son and 2 daus. are dec. Sur. Widow, son Mr. J.S. Henderson, of Greensboro, NC, 3 daus. Mrs. J.E. Hubbard of TX, Mrs. G.E. Robinette of Lovelance, Mrs. Lonnie White of Jennings. 2 half is Mrs. Richard Goforth of lovelace, Mrs. I.T. Mathis of Roaring River. 1 sis n/n 1 bro. Mr. Richard Henderson of Windy Gap. Deacon at Shady Grove for over 50 years.
