Nelson Jarvis was born in 1816 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁷⁶⁾ The date given in the IGI (no original source has been found by this researcher) agrees with the age of an otherwise unidentified male in the 1820 and 1830 censuses of the Jarvis household.

He moved to before 1852 in Wells Co., Indiana. Nelson is described as being from Wells Co., Indiana in a deed executed in 1852.

He sold interest in land on Hunting creek on 25 Jun 1852 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁷⁷⁾ The sale to Richard Walker for $166 was for interest in an inheritance. Specifically, the deed read "one tract of which containing about 237 acres lying on Hunting creek adjoining Larkin Becknall above and Joel Lunceford below, one other tract called the mill tract adjoining Abel Cass on the south side and Polly Rash's land on the east and said Richard Walker's land on the north, and two other tracts adjoining each other on Little Hunting creek and adjoining on south side lands of Robert Coleman dec and lands of John Robards on the east side and also several other tracts are conveyed in this and all of which land descended from John Brown dec. late of Wilkes County to the said Priscilla and his other heirs and the said Nelson and Priscilla for the above mentioned consideration bargain and sell unto the said Richard Walker and his heirs all their share and interest in the personal estate of the said John Brown...." Nelson and Priscilla are described in the deed as being of Wells Co., Indiana.

Noah Jarvis was born in 1825.⁽¹⁶⁾ Noah's birth date is derived from the 1850 census.

He appeared on the census in 1850 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. Noah appears with his wife Lyddia and his children Sally (7) and Mariah (4). Since so many Jarvises were named Noah, it is a little speculative whether the Noah that appears in the 1850 census is the same Noah listed in John Jarvis's will, however his age is right and his oldest daughter bears the same name as Sally Jarvis. Noah has not been found in any subsequent census. Perhaps he emmigrated with Israel and other members of the family to Indiana during the late 1850's.

He purchased 120 acres on 21 Feb 1856 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁷⁸⁾ The land was purchased from Mary Roberts and Jain Parker for $40 - an extremely low price. The deed read "in consideration of the sum of forty dollars to Jain Parker and for supporting Mary Roberts during her life to us payed by Noah Jarvis..." The land is described as "beginning on a red oak running north Luke Adams line thirty chains to a chestnut, thence west forty chains to a stake, thence south with Benjamin Herndon's line thirty chains to a stake in the late James McBride's line, thence east forty chains to the beginning." The relationship of these two women to Noah is unknown, however in the 1850 census, immediately following Noah's household is a listing for the household of James Parker (31), Jane (25), John (7) and Alice (1). Clearly the land was adjoining Noah's.

He sold 120 acres on 16 Aug 1856 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁷⁹⁾ The land is that which was purchased from Mary Roberts and Jain Parker, described as "beginning on a red oak running north with Luke Adams line thirty chains to a chestnut, thence west forty chains to a stake, thence south with Benjamin Herndon's line thirty chains to a stake in the late James McBride's line, thence east forty chains with the said Randolph Maberry's line to the beginning." It was sold to Randolph Maberry for $250, a profit of $210 dollars.

He was married to Lyddia Walker on 18 Mar 1849 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁸²⁾⁽²⁸³⁾ This is a speculative marriage record, however this Noah is the only logical choice, and the children in the family indicate a break in childbearing of four years prior to the census - unusual for a young couple but explained if Lyddia is a new bride after the death of the first Lyddia. William McKay was the bondsman.

Noah Jarvis was born in 1835 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽¹⁶⁴⁾ Parents: Charles Jarvis and Sarah Howard.

Noah Jarvis Jr. was born on 1 Aug 1907 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽⁹⁷⁾⁽²⁸⁴⁾ He died in Sep 1983 in Clingman, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁸⁵⁾ He had Social Security Number 240-14-5331. Parents: Rev Noah Thomas Jarvis and Nellie V. Mastin.

He was married to Reba Staley.

Noah James Jarvis was born on 1 Feb 1862 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽⁴⁶⁾ He appeared on the census in 1900 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. His household in Somers Township consisted of himself (38), his wife Mary (38), and his children Arthur (10), Luther (8), Avery (5), "Willard" (4), Clinton (1), and his sister-in-law Lucy (26).

He moved to in 1912 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., North Carolina.⁽⁴⁶⁾ Noah James and his wife lived the last 32 years of their lives in Greensboro, N.C. At the time of their deaths, they resided at 913 Cherry Street.

He sold interest in 10 acres to W. F. Jarvis on 1 Jul 1915 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁸⁶⁾ The sale was by N.J. Jarvis and wife Mary Jarvis, J. L. Jarvis and wife L. J. Jarvis, S. C. Jarvis and wife Della Jarvis, and K. A. Gregory and wife Sis Gregory. The land was a 40 pole x 40 pole square adjoining the lands of H. A. Mayberry and J. S. Henderson.

He died on 19 May 1944 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁸⁷⁾ He was buried on 21 May 1944 in Forest Lawn Cemetary, Greensboro, Guilford Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁸⁸⁾ He was an Employee of the Railroad abt 1890 to 1920. One artifact of Noah's life which has been handed down through the generations is a brakeman's lantern, now in the possession of Donna Jarvis Slane.

He was married to Mary Elizabeth Ball about 1888 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. The marriage date is estimated based on the birthdate of the couple's first son, Arthur, in June 1889. The place is also believed to be Wilkes Co., since both are listed as Wilkes Co. residents in the 1880 and 1900 censuses.

Rev Noah Thomas Jarvis was born on 28 Dec 1870 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁸⁹⁾ He was an Elder at the Briar Creek Baptist church from 1903 to 1939 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽¹⁸⁹⁾ Briar Creek Baptist church is located in the eastern part of the
county just south of the Yadkin.

He sold 101 acres to Lindsey M. Jarvis for $1,600 on 24 Dec 1913 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽¹⁵⁾ He was a Pastor of Cub Creek Baptist church from 1931 to 1940 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽¹⁸⁹⁾ Later he was a pastor of Fishing Creek Baptist church. He died on 9 Jun 1954.⁽²⁹⁰⁾ He was buried in Cranberry Baptist Church, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁹¹⁾ Parents: James McBride Jarvis and Julia Ann Gray.

was born on 17 Nov 1845 in Roaring River, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽²⁹³⁾⁽¹⁵⁵⁾ He served in the military from 1862 to 1865 in Company E, 54th Regiment - Infantry.⁽⁴²⁾ His archive record states "Resident in Wilkes County and enlisted in Lenoir County at age 17, March 17, 1864, for the war. Wounded in the arm at Drewry's Bluff, Virginia, on or about May 16, 1864. Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia. Furloughed for sixty days on May 31, 1864. Returned to duty prior to November 1, 1864. Captured near Fort Stedman, Virginia, March 25, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, March 27, 1865. Released at Point Lookout on June 28, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance."
