Welmoth Jarvis was born in 1818.⁽¹²⁾ He sold nine hundred acres to John Brown on 30 Oct 1849 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽³⁰⁷⁾ This remarkable sale included a number of properties, probably inherited by Susannah Brown from John Brown, her father, and sold to one of her brothers. Another deed by Priscilla Brown also transferred a number of tracts described as adjacent to the same land owners as in the following in 1852, and her deed specifically stated that the land was her interest in the inheritance from her father, John Brown. Priscilla Brown was the wife of Nelson Jarvis, Welmoth's uncle but of about the same age as Welmoth.

The land was described as "all the Tract of Land ... on the waters of Hunting Creek containing nine hundred acres more or less bounded as follows (to wit) one tract lying on Hunting Creek upon which John Brown now lives adjoining the lands of Joel Lunsford and Elizabeth Becknall also a tract lying on Little Hunting creek containing 300 acres adjoining the lands of Richard Walker and Robert Coleman also a Tract lying on Brushy Mountain containing 100 acres adjoining the Lands of John Park and Richard Walker also a tract containing fifty acres lying on Hunting Creek adjoining Elizabeth Becknall and John Brown's land also two other tracts one adjoining Abel Cass and Polly Rash Land the other adjoining Joel Lunsford James Rash and Levi Rash Lands."

He purchased about 100 acres on 28 Feb 1850 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽³⁰⁸⁾ The land, purchased from his father James for $50, is described as "beginning at a pine running west one hundred and thrity four poles to a white oak by a field thence north twenty poles to a post oak thence west one hundred poles to a white oak, thence south crossing said creek one hundred and forty eight poles to a red oak thence east two hundred and thirty poles to a stake on Garrison's line, thence north crossing said creek to the beginning."

He witnessed deed L. G. Becknell on 30 May 1855 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. The transaction was a mortgage from John Brown to Becknall. John was probably Welmoth's brother-in-law.

He appeared on the census in 1860 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. His household consisted of Wilmoth (42), Dicey (30), Nelson (13), Abner (12), Lydia (10), and unidentified male (8), Jane (6), Mary (4), George (1), and an unidentified female (Elizabeth) (8 days).

He appeared on the census on 29 Jul 1870 in Somers Township, Wilkes Co., North Carolina. Welmoth's household included Welmoth (52), Dicey (37), Nelson (24), Willey (22), Lautisha (20), Alsey (18), Jane (16), Mary (13), Elesabeth (10), Sally (8), and Peter (5).

He Served as Justice of the Peace in 1879 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽³⁰⁹⁾ He died in Apr 1880 in Somers Township, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽¹⁶⁸⁾ According to the 1880 mortality census, he died of heart disease. Parents: James Jarvis Esq. and Liddia McBride.

He was married to Susan "Sooky" Brown on 27 Feb 1843 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.⁽³¹⁰⁾ ⁽³¹¹⁾ James Rash was Welmoth's bondsman.
