Wayne joined the Marine Corp May 3, 1931. He went to China, arriving in Peking, 1933. He was a boxer there, winning middle weight and light heavy weight championship of the Orient. He returned to U.S. in 1935 to represent the U.S. in the 1936 Olympics, held in Berlin, Germany. He was rejected by the Olympic Committee due to his pro boxing in the Orient. He did fight the winner of the '36 Olympics when he turned pro in 193. Wayne knocked him out in three rounds. He returned to the Orient in 1938, stopping off in the Phillipines. While there, Amelia Earhart was reported missing. He spent many nights on board ship searching for her. From there he went to Shanghai, stayed until May, 1940. He came back to U.S. After WWII returned to Camp Lejeune, N.C. then to Hawaii, back to California, where he retired from the Marine Corp. Parents: John B. Livingston and Claire Rosetta JARVIS.
