Notes for JAMES ANDERSON:
From "They Called him bloody Bill" pg.IV

Shortly after the Civil War began, all over Missouri the southern sympathizers organized into guerrilla bands to oppose the Federal occupation forces and to defend against the plundering raids of the Kansas Jayhawkers. Most of the guerrillas were originally Missouri farm boys.
Bill anderson, along with his brother Jim, joined one of these bands and in time he headed his own group. He possessed to the highest degree the qualities most admired by Missourians - horsemanship and marksmanship. He was also distinguished by a reckless courage.

..."It is known that Bill Anderson had three sisters and a brother named James. He possibly had two other brothers named Robert and Thomas.

From Party Smith partysmith@aol.com Sat. 13 Sep 1997, her reference "Saga of Jesse James" by Carl Breihan:

              "ANDERSON, JAMES ( Jim):
Brother of "Bloody Bill" Anderson. Killed in Texas after the war, by George H. Shepherd
to avenge his part in the murder and robery of Ike Flannery, Shepherd's nephew. Jesse
James and Jim Anderson killed Flannery for his inherited money. Shepherd slit Anderson's
throat on the lawn of the state capital building in Austin, Texas.

Shepherd's desire to kill or capture Jesse began soon after the Civil War when Ike Flannery,
Shepherd's nephew, came into an inheritance of several thousand dollar. He never got a
chance to spend it, however, for he was killed and robbed near Glasgow, MO. Several house-
wives in the vicinity said that shortly before flannery's body was found, they saw him riding
in the company of Jesse James and Jim Anderson. Jesse readily admitted he had been with
Ike , but claimed they were attacked by Federal militiamen, who had killed the boy. Jesse
made the story stick with law officers, but Shepherd was not convinced. He trailed Jim
Anderson, who he was certain was a partner in the murder, and found him in Austin, Texas.
Anderson, unsuspecting joined Shepherd in several drinks on the lawn of the Texas State
                     Capital.
Here Shepherd cut Anderson's throat. Before his life bleed away, Anderson said Jesse had
                     helped commit the murder."

"Shephers escaped punishment for slaying Anderson, because many people in that vacinity
hated Anderson, and it was difficult to concentrate the blame in any one quarter... et.al."

Child of JAMES ANDERSON is:
