Descendants of Jean Baptiste Soileau

Generation No. 2

2. SAINT NOEL3 SOILEAU (JEAN BAPTISTE2, NOEL1) was born November 28, 1700 in Rheims, Mezieres, France, and died June 04, 1757 in Pointe Coupee, La. He married (1) MARIE BORDEAUX. He married (2) MARIE JOSEPH RICHAUME May 28, 1734 in New Orleans, La, daughter of PIERRE RICHAUME and JEANNE MAURY/MAROYE. She was born 1722 in German Coast, La, St Charles, La, and died February 16, 1816 in Opelousas, La.

Notes for S
AINT NOEL SOILEAU:
Noel Soileau of Mezieres(Providence of Champagne, No. France.)
arrived in La. in 1719 with his Uncle Gerard Pellerin and others
for employment in a concession at Natchez. He survived the 1729
Natchez Massacre & was appointed quartermaster of the Royal ware-
house at the Natchez Post after the post had been restored. He
& Marie Josephe Richaume had three sons and five daughters. Some
of the children were born in St Charles Parish, an early residence
of the family. Before his death in 1757, Noel & his family moved to
Point Coupee, where he had property. His widow remarried in 1765 to
Alexandre Mercantel & the Soileau children remained in Point Coupee
under an appointed guardian & tutor. On emancipation the three
Soileau sons settled in the Opelousas district, Noel Etienne, Jean
Baptiste obtaining land in the Grand Prairie area north of the
Opelosuas Post. Auguste Soileau established himself in the Coteau
area south of the post near the present day community of Grand Coteau.
Most of the Soileau families who now live in St Landry or Evangeline
Parishes are descendants of either Noel Etienne or Jean Baptiste as
August Soileau remained single.
Noel was listed in the 1726 census of La. as living on two arpents of cleared
land near Natzhez with his first wife, Marie Bordeaux.
Noel' son Henri was born in Avoyelles, 1791 and his daughters Victoria &
Hortense were married there.

Notes for M
ARIE JOSEPH RICHAUME:
Marie Josephe Richaume (minor daug. of deceased Pierre Richaume & of Jeanne
Francoise Maury, wife of Barthelemy Bimont, who signs herself Francoise Mauroy,
wife of Bimont) of Canada.
In 1737 Noel married Marie Josephe Richaume. They had three sons & 5
daughters. Some of the children were born in St Charles Parish, where the
family resided earlier on.
Noel & his family moved to Pointe Coupee, where he had property, before his
death in 1757.
Marie Josephe Richaume remarried in 1765 to Alexandre Marcantel, the Soileau
children remained in Point Coupee under an appointed guardian & tutor. On
emancipation the 3 Soileau sons settled in the Opelousas district,
Noel-Etienner & Jean Baptiste acquired land in the Grand Prairie area north of
the Opelousas Post. Auguste settled in the Coteau area south on the post near
the present day community of Grand Coteau.
Noel Etienne Soileau married Angelique Fontenot in 1771. Jean Baptiste married
Marie Jeanne de Vidrine in 1776. August remained single. So most of the
Soileaus who now live in St Landry & Evangeline parishes are descendants of
either Noel Etienne or Jean Baptiste.
I am searching for the descendants of Jean Baptiste. There seems to be
numerous descendants of Noel Etienne but I, Lillian Soileau, at this time, 4
July 1994 have not been successful finding descendants of Jean Baptiste and
Marie Jeane Vidrine. HELP!!!!!!!
Jeanne Vidrine. Help!!!!!!
