**JOHN'S PARENTAGE:

John Lindsey Epperson was actually the s/o Delena Lucena Epperson and unknown (death certificate says John Epperson - but remember this information was given in 1928 by a family member who may not have known the full circumstances and death certificates have been known to have been wrong. However, at this time, this is the only record that we have that shows a father for him, Also, notice that even though it does list his mother's name as Delaney, it DOES NOT give her last name, which we know from family tradition that she was indeed Delena Epperson.

John was raised by his grandparents until his grandfather died and as you can see on this 1850 census, he is listed with his grandmother, and several uncles and aunts.

Subject: John Epperson Pension Files

Ann & Dave,
I received the pension files on John Epperson, son of Delana Epperson. I am sending the info in order as I found it in the files. Not all of it is word for word but I tried to include all answers to all the questions. It appears this is Delana's son afterall, and that he did NOT die in the Civil War. The Death certificate info is at the end of the email and am not sure what to think of that.
