Abraham "Abram" Ayres (b. 1801, d. September 02, 1875)

Abraham "Abram" Ayres (son of Andrew Ayres and Sarah) was born 1801 in England, and died September 02, 1875 in Franklin Twp, MI. He married Elizabeth "Betsy".

Abraham Ayres, 74, dies. Mr Ayres was one of the first settlers in the town of Franklin- a good neighbor, a quiet citizen, and inoffensive man. He leaves a wife to mourn his loss.

Footnotes:
Abraham left a widow, but she apparently died prior to the probating of his will and the administrator ended up being William H Ayres. Abraham left an estate of $700.00.

At a session of the Probate Court held in the probate office in the city of Adrian on Friday the 9th day of May 1884. Present Norman Geddes, Judge of Probate.

In the matter of the estate of Abram Ayres sale of said county deceased now comes William H. Ayres the Administrator upon said estate who being duly sworn says - Since accepting the trust of administrator I have diligently required and endowed ascertains (?) and which of the heirs of said estate are now living and (?) own interest therein and have found that they are as follows - that is to say Sarah O'Brien a sister of said deceased residing in Grand Rapids, Sarah Sharp, Hannah Hardcastle, William H Ayres, and Andrew Ayres, children of Benjamin Ayres, a deceased brother of said Abram Ayres deceased, and Clara Ayres, Lydia Ayres children of Andrew Ayres, a deceased brother of said Abram Ayres, deceased, and Anson Ayres, Elvin Ayres, William Ayres, Jackson Ayres,, children of John Ayres, a deceased brother of said deceased - and John B Barber and George Barber, Sarah Stewart, children of Hannah Barber, a deceased sister of said Abram Ayres, deceased, and Charles Fleetwood, a son of Julia Fleetwood, deceased, who was a daughter of Hannah Barber, above named, deceased and that there are no other persons heirs of said deceased or entitled to inherit from said Abram Ayres deceased - William H Ayres.

Ayers - On the 2nd inst., at his residence in Franklin Twp, Abraham Ayers, aged 74 years, died. Mr Ayers was one of the first settlers in the town of Franklin - a good neighbor, a quiet citizen and an inoffensive man. He leaves a wife to mourn his loss.

Note:

I am a sister of said Abram Ayres, deceased and I am fifty-four years of age and have knowledge of the brothers and sisters of said Abram Ayres, deceased - he had three brothers and three sisters, that is to say - Benjamin Ayres, Andrew Ayres, and John Ayres, Hannah Barber, Elizabeth Neggs, and this affriant - all of these brothers and sisters except affriant are dead - Benjamin left children surviving as follows Sarah Sharp, Hannah Hardcastle, William H Ayres, and Andrew Ayres all of whom and are of full age - Andrew Ayres left surviving children as heirs as follows, Lydia Ayres, Clara Ayres, both of whom are full age and reside in Lenawee County, Michigan - John left children as heirs as follows, Anson Ayres, Elvin Ayres, William Ayres, and Benjamin Ayres all of whom are of full age and all of whom reside in Lenawee County, Michigan.

Hannah Barber deceased leaving children John B Barber, George Barber and Sarah Stewart all of whom are of full age , the said John Barber residing at Sioux Fall, Dakota and the said George Barber residing at Lincoln Co New Mexico and the said Darah Stewart residing in Cherokee in the state of Iowa - the said Hannah Barber also left a daughter named Julia Fleetwood who has since deceased, leaving one son named Charles Fleetwood, who resides at Sioux Falls, Dakota who is also of full age.

The said Elizabeth Neggs deceased some forty five years ago leaving one son, Richard Neggs who died unmarried some sixteen years ago - the said Abram Ayres left no other names except those above named. Sarah O'Brien
