Lydia E. Ayres (daughter of Andrew Ayres and Ruth Burcham) was born November 06, 1844 in Cambridge Twp, and died July 09, 1937 in Cambridge Twp. She married Charles "Cuffy" Edward Jessup on September 14, 1887.

Lydia Ayres was rather a tall person with long, real dark hair, until older age set in. Then her hair was gray and she was "humped" over from osteoporosis. SHe use to cut weeds with a butcher knife well into her years, ground was so hard and so little grass was mowed back then. She actually cut off one of her fingers with the knife.
Lydia was a good baker, and baked a lot bread and cookies, tho she never shared with fred's family, who were usually starving. She would bake several loaves of bread and store them in a huge crock with a towel made from flour sacks over the top.
Lydia had several pieces of black walnut furniture thatc ame from England,; including a dining room suite, and a piano that she played.
Lydia got up in the night and stepped on a dog, which bit her; she returned to bed swearing she would never get up again, and she didn't! She was bed ridden until her death.
