Charles Andrew Kerr (b. November 30, 1870, d. October 25, 1936)

Charles Andrew Kerr was born November 30, 1870 in Cambridge Twp, MI, and died October 25, 1936 in Onsted, MI. He married Eva Delphine Ayres on April 15, 1903, daughter of Andrew Ayres and Josephine Adell Des Ermia.

Charles A Kerr, prominent business man of Onsted and Cambridge Twp, died at his home here at 7 o'clock last night. Mr Kerr was born 11-30-1870 in Cambridge Twp, son of John And Elizabeth Kerr, and had spent all his life here. He had been connected with the lumber firm now known as the Onsted & Kerr Company since 5-2-1902.

He was president of the Michigan Observatory which he operates a tower in the Irish Hills, a director of the Onsted State Bank, the Lenawee Sand & Gravel Company in Adrian and the Addison Fur Company of Jackson. Mr Kerr was a graduate of Brown Business Univ in Adrian and in 1900 served as Cambridge Twp supervisor. He took an active interest in all civic affairs.

He was first married to Hettie Sheeler, who died soon after their marriage. Later he was married to Eva Ayers of Cambridge Twp and to them two children were born. Mrs Kerr died a number of years ago and he later married Mrs Bernice Dardy of Napoleon. Mr Kerr was a member of the Free and Occupied Masons.

He is survived by the widow Mrs Bernice Kerr, one daughter, Mrs. Milton Raymond (Josephine) of Hillsdale and a son Raynor A Kerr of Toledo.

Funeral held at 2 pm in the United Baptist Church with Rev Hague officiating. Burial at Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted. Honorable pallbearers: William J Brighton and Charles Des Ermia.
