Andrew Jackson Ayres (son of John Ayres and Harriet Neal) was born June 22, 1856 in Cambridge Twp, and died November 22, 1941 in Irish Hills, MI. He married Julia Anne Brighton on January 01, 1875.

Was a farmer on 166.77 acres purchased 2-10-1874, changed the spelling of his name from Ayers to Ayres because of a typo on the land purchase deed.

Obit:
Andrew Ayres, 85 years old, died at 1:20 o'clock this morning in the home of his daughter Mrs Charles Jacobs in the Irish Hills where he had lived the last three years. Mr Ayres was born in Cambridge township and for a number of years made his home at 617 Division Street in Adrian. His wife Julia Brighton Ayres died April 22, 1938. Mr Ayres was a member of the Maccabees.

He is survived by two daughters Mrs Harriet Fiske of Blissfield and Mrs Neva Jacobs at whose home he died, four sons Pearl of Holt, Jesse of Collingswood, NJ, Faye of Adrian and Gloyd of Toledo and one brother William Ayres of Cambridge township. A daughter Mrs Cora Peavy and two sons Neal and Lyle proceeded him in death.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the Everiss Funeral Home and the burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev James M Horton will officiate.

Note: It is rumored that Julia and Andrew lived with separate children once they became older as Julia said she was not going to take care of an old man. Interesting if it is true..
