Note:
Andrew Ayers is the fifth Senior Warden of this church, having been elected to that office in the regular parish meeting. He comes from substantial old English stock. His father, Benjamin Ayres, came from England in 1830 and settled in the township of Franklin, on the east shore of Sand Lake, where the subject of this sketch was born Dec 11, 1839. He was baptized in infancy by the Rev Wm N Lyster, and confirmed in adult age by Rt Rev Bishop Harris, and has long since been a devoted and substantial member of this church.

More than sixty years of his life have been spent in the Pleasant and independent occupation of a farmer on the banks of beautiful Sand Lake, the very view of which is an inspiration and a charm. On April 14, 1864, he married Josephine Des Ermia, to whom eight daughters were born, four of whom still survive.

After many long years of toil and care on the old farm he withdrew from the beautiful and peaceful scenes of his life's work, according to the custom of many in the afternoon of their years, went to the village to take a rest, and now is enjoying his Pleasant home in Onsted, where he has promised himself a quiet, peaceful life in his declining years.
