Michel and his brother, Able are twins. Michel and his brother Jean-Evangiliste were both drowned accidentally. It appears that another brother, Thomas was involved bu managed to save himself. It is said that they were in the process of salvaging goods from a barge or schooner which had run aground. The cargo they had trasferred became too heavy and some ties were broken causing the salvage vessel to turn over. According to Michel's birth record, he was born at 4 P. M. in the afternoon , 28 November, 1815 at Baie St. Paul, P. Q Michel Otis and his wife, Marie-Anne Perron had at least 5 children. They were: Philomene, Rose-de-Lima, Michel, Leda, & Cleophee.
