Here it is: NEW BEDFORD-- Raymond St. Gelais, 64, died at home Monday, July 8, 1996 after a brief Illness. He was the husband of Claire A. (Levesque) St. Gelais and son of the late Charles and Frederica (Boisvert) St. Gelais. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Mr. St. Gelais was a communicant of St Joseph Church. He was the owner of Ray's Siding and General Repairs until his retirement in 1993. He also was associated with St. Gelais brothers until 1976. He delivered Meals on Wheels to the elderly until his illness. Mr. St. Gelais was a Korean War Army veteran, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tuttle Post in Acushnet, the Sixth Bristol Club in New Bedford, and the former Franco-American Croquet Club. Mr. St. Gelais enjoyed bowling, golf, and hunting, and he made his own hand-crafted lawn ornaments. He also brewed his own beer, wine and root beer at home. Survivors include his widow, Claire; three sons, Ernest C. St. Gelais of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Raymond C. St. Gelais of New Bedford, and Maurice R. "Moe" St. Gelais of Freetown; two daughters, Elaine B. LeBeau of Freetown and Valerie A. Yergeau of Milford, Conn. A brother, Normand St. Gelais of Lakeville; three sisters, Jeannette Blanchard and Lucille Charbonneau, both of New Bedford and Theresa Sparks of Westport; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. St. Gelais was the brother of the late Romeo St. Gelais, Conrad St. Gelais, Imelda St. Gelais/ Forand and Medora St. Gelais.
