bullet EDWARD JR. STARBUCK was born on 16 Feb 1604 in Derbyshire, England. He died on 4 Dec 1690 in Nantucket Island, Mass.. Edward STARBUCK came to New England in about 1633-1634. *Other sources have date of death 4 February 1690, 4 March 1690, & 12 Apr 1690. The genealogical dictionary of Maine and N. H. states that Edward Starbuck deeded his Concheco (Dover, N. H. ) home, land, cattle, goods etc. to his son-in-law Peter Coffin on 9 March 1659-1660 and moved to Nantucket, Mass. where he died 4 March, 1690 at age 84 . Edward Starbuck along with Tristram Coffin and Peter Folger were among the first purchasers of Nantucket Island, Mass.Edward Starbuck accompanied Tristram Coffin on his voyage of discovery, and accompanied Thomas Macy on his voyage of settlement to the Island of Nantucket. Prior to 1660 Edward Starbuck owned and operated a saw-mill in partnership with a Richard Waldron in the Dover, N. H. area. Richard Waldron was also a Magistrate and a Major in the militia. and, was reputed as having dishonest dealings with the local Abanaki inidians. In about 1676 Major Richard Waldron had several military companies round up about 350 Abanakis Indians. He Then had 10 of them hanged, imprisoned many without reason and deported others as slaves to Boston. These actions are what many believe led to the Concheco massacre of 1689. 23 Dover residents were murdered and about 30 more were taken captive. Major Richard Waldron and one of his sons-in-law, Henry Nathaniel Lee, married to his daughter Esther were murdered in the massacre of 1689. I am a descendant of John Otis, son of Richard Sr. Otis and Anna Shuah Starbuck, daughter of Edward Jr. Starbuck. Richard Otis Sr. was also murdered in the same massacre. Anna Shuah Starbuck had died in about 1686 and Richard Sr. Otis had remarried for the 3rd time to Grizzel Warren. Richard and Grizzel had 2 young daughters. Hannah abt 2 was murdered. Grizzel and her 2 month old daughter Marguerite were taken captive. John Otis my ancestor was also taken captive, was tortured, had his ears cut off and fingernails removed and was forced to live with his captors for alomost ten years before being purchased from the indians by a frenchman named Jean Barrette in Quebec. Here are a few genealogical facts and a few bits of information that I have been able to find about MAJOR RICHARD WALDRON and his family. MAJOR RICHARD SR. WALDRON (AKA Walderne) was born 6 Jan 1615 in Alcester, Warwickshire, England. He was the son of William Waldron and Catherine Raven. MAJOR RICHARD SR. WALDRON had several brothers and sisters. His wife was Anne Scammon born abt 1623, in England or Portsmouth, N. H. and was of the Portsmouth, N. H. area. She died February 7, 1685 in Dover, N. H. Anne Scammon's father was Richard Sr. Scammon born in England abt 1600. Richard Scammon died abt 1660 in Dover, N. H. Anne Scammon's brothers and sisters: , John, B 1632, Elizabeth, B abt 1633, Richard Jr. born abt 1640, and Humphrey born abt 1640 all in the Portsmouth, N. H. area. Richard Jr. Scammon was married to Prudence Waldron, niece of MAJOR RICHARD SR. WALDRON; daughter of William Waldron. MAJOR RICHARD SR. WALDRON and Anne Scammon were married in 1644, in Newbury, Essex, Mass. She may have been wife # 2. MAJOR RICHARD SR. WALDRON and Anne Scammon had at least 10 children. They were:(1) Elizabeth Waldron, Born Oct 8, 1645, Dover, N. H, Married John Gerrish Aug 10, 1667 in Salem, Mass. (2) Anna Waldron b abt 1652 in Dover, N. H. Died 27 Jan, 1730. Married Rev. Joseph Gerrish, John Gerrish's brother in abt 1670, Salem, Mass. (3) Richard Jr. Waldron born abt 1650 & D 3 Nov 1730. He married Ellenor Vaughan 6 Feb, 1692 in Portsmouth, N. H. (4) Esther B 1 Dec, 1660, married (1) Henry Nathaniel Elkins who died early: M(2) Abraham Lee 21 June, 1686 who was also Killed June 1689 in the Concheco massacre. M (3) John Jose. Outlived him and M (4) Joshua Barnes, returned to Europe and died on the Isle of Jersey. (5) Timothy, (baptized Thimotheus) born abt 1646, still alive in 1659 , D as undergraduate at Harvard College. (6) Paul, B 1652 & D 1669 in Algiers. (7) Elnathan( B 6 Jul, 1659 & D at 5 Months. (8) Mary (baptized Marcy), B14 Sept, 1663 & D age 14, (9) Eliazer b 1 May, 1665, and (10) Marah (f) b 17 Jul, 1668. The fact that MAJOR RICHARD SR. WALDRON and his son-in-law were murdered in the Concheco Massacre of 1689 at Dover, N. H. came from a published genealogy of the Otis family, Canadian Branch by Gerard Malchelosse. Richard Jr. Waldron had a son Richard III Waldron who married Elizabeth Westbrook, daughter and only child of Col. Thomas Westbrook and Mary Sherburn. (the town of Westbrook, Maine is named after Col Thomas Westbrook). Parents: EDWARD SR. STARBUCK and Mrs. EDWARD SR. STARBUCK .

No dates are given. a few paragraphs up opn the same page. reference is made that SARAH STARBUCK was Married #1 to Joseph Austin and M#2 to Humphrey Varney. There is no mention of her marriage to William Story (Storer). I believe many genealogist tend to mix these two sisters up, or consider them as one and the same which they are not.
