ALL THE DESCENDANTS OF JEAN-BAPTISTE LANDRY AND SARA MICHAUD listed on this site are due to THE RESEARCH OF CHARLES LANDRY OF THIS POSTING. Here is a note that I received from Charles Landry. My grandfather, Georges-Treffle, and his brother Arsene, arrived in Manitoba in the fall of 1876 and the rest of the family in 1877, they
travelled by train to St. Paul, Minn. and then up the Red River by
paddle boat to a location on the East side of the river about 15 miles
south of Winnipeg now known as Saint-Adolphe, eventually they settled in
the village of Saint-Norbert on the west side of the river about 10
miles south of Winnipeg. Saint-Norbert is now part of greater Winnipeg
and is no longer shown on maps.
I was born in Saint-Norbert in 1934 and have lived in Saint-Boniface
(east across the river from Winnipeg also now part of greater Winnipeg
and not on maps) since my marriage in 1957 - I spent my entire working
career in the Grain industry (retired in 95) I was originally with a
large international firm, Continental Grain Co.(New York based), in
their Winnipeg and Montreal offices for 21 years and then in Winnipeg
for 24 years with the Canadian Wheat Board, a Federal Government Agency
charged with merchandising Western Canadian Wheat & Barley, I
specialized in trading barley. Parents: Joseph-Napoleon LANDRY and Marie-Agnes GAUTHIER.
