30. RACHEL KOONCE ⁽¹⁾⁽²⁾ was born on 27 May 1789 in NC. She died on 10 Sep 1873 in GOODLAND, IRON CO, MO.

She was married to DAVID ADAMS (son of WILLIAM A ADAMS and MARY GOODEN) in 1804 in TN. DAVID ADAMS^{(3) (4)(5) (1)(2)} was born on 12 Sep 1783 in JONES CO, NC. He died on 10 Sep 1862 in GOODLAND, IRON CO, MO. He was buried in MT PLEASANT CEMETARY, GOODLAND, IRON CO, MO. From Robert Mc Grew -- Sometime during a 4 year period, between 1806 and 1809, David and Rachel moved to Roane Co., TN. I don't know if they went alone, with other members of their family, or with a group of families from Jones Co., but I suspect there was a sizeable group. There were no paved highways in those days, just trails, or at best , very poor roads, full of stumps and bottemless when it rained. Travel was by foot, horseback and wagon... groups of people would help each other over the rough spots, and protect each other, if the need arose. Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee were still full of Creek and Cherokee Indians.
They apparently moved to the north part of Roane/Morgan County until about 1833, when they moved to Missouri. They moved to Tennessee while Thomas Jefferson was President and left during Andy Jackson's 1st or 2nd term, a turbulent period in the hills of Eastern Tenn. The countryside and animals were wild, as were some of the natives, at least during those early years. In 1825, Morgan Co. County Minutes show William Adams, Jr. being paid a bounty for a wolf scalp.
The name David Adams appears many times and ways in the records of both Roane and Morgan Counties.
RACHEL KOONCE and DAVID ADAMS had the following children:
