SIXTH GENERATION
40. MARY ANN (POLLY) ADAMS
was born in 1818. From- History of Early Reynolds County, Missouri by James
E Bell.
Clayton Creek got its name from Beverly Clayton or his son Elbridge H, who married
Mary Ann Adams on 29 Jan 1838. She was the daughter of David and Rachel Koonce
Adams. Beverly Clayton, son of Henry Clayton, married Sally Rion (Sarah Ryan
) on 28 Jun 1814, in Cumberland County, Kenturcky, and most likely came with
the Cartys and Copelands to pre-Reynolds County in 1821. Beverly is shown in
the 1830 census living with his children in what later may have become Iron County.
His wife did not appear on the census and we would presume she is dead. The
populace, as a rule, seldom separated or divorced. In the Ripley Count marriages,
we find a Beverly W Clayton marriage to Elizabeth Oxford dated 31 May 1835.
William Love, who lived only a few miles away at Edge Hill, performed the marriage
-- adding substance to the belief that this was the same Beverly Clayton.
She was married to ELDRIDGE CLAYTON on 29 Jan 1838 in WASHINGTON, CO, MO.
MARY ANN (POLLY) ADAMS and ELDRIDGE CLAYTON had the following children:
91 i.
JOHNCLAYTON CLAYTON.
+92 ii.
RACHEL CLAYTON.
+93 iii.
BILL CLAYTON. |
