SEVENTH GENERATION

55. NELSON ADAMS was born on 19 Oct 1846 in REYNOLDS CO, MO. He died on 1 Apr 1928 in MO. (Information from Robert McGrew) This Nelson Adams was born near what is now Goodland, Mo., his father William, is buried in the Goodland Cemetery. Nelson's mother died when he was very young and he was reared by relatives, possible his Uncle Nelson and Aunt Rebecca Adams, the 1860 census for St Francois Co. shows a 10 year old Nelson living with them.. The age is wrong, but thats not uncommon (pure speculation on my part).
During the Civil War he served in Co.,E,18th Missouri Inf (Union). Although he was born in Reynolds County, his Post-Office address at the time of enlistment was Edge Hill in Iron Co. He probable was still living where, or near where he was born... Iron Co. was formed from neighboring counties in 1857. After his discharge he moved over to Washington, near Belgrade, and farmed for the remainder of his life.
His farm is still lived on by some of his descendants, Marie (Farrell) Sutton and her husband, Cecil. The farm is recognized as a "CENTENNIAL FARM" because it has been in the family for at least 100 years. Source -- The book "Bellevue, Beautiful View:, page 518, and U S Pension Records.
