TENTH GENERATION

400. CLAUDE MONROE JR ADAMS was born on 20 May 1926 in KANSAS CITY,KS. Claude joined the Air Force during WW2 before he graduated from high school as it appeared he would be caught in the draft. He was trained as a radio technician in the service and actually went overseas to Germany after the war was over, spending time with the group that flew the Nazi War Criminalsback and forth to the trials at Nuremberg. After release from the service Claude married Betty Gray. They were blessed with Craig Monroe, Ricki Darrell, Alan Dale and Kelleye. Claude and Betty were divorced in 1983/84. As a young man, Claude went to work with the Union Pacific RR and stayed until retirement in 1990. Claude underwent triple by-pass surgery in 1984. He had suffered a bout with rheumatic fever as a young boy . He also was a Western Union delivery boy which almost cost him his life when he was struck by a car on the delivery job during World War II. Claude's interest in model airplanes won him a trip to Budapest, Hungary. An interest in his good health led him to bike long distances such as cross country through Iowa and Kentucky. Further interest in his health caused him to become a vegetarian in 1991. Slim trim Claude was the result. Claude married Marilee Rhodes in 1983 and moved to Marysville,Ks. He and Marilee did as much traveling as they could fit in, enjoying life together very much. Claude was very active at the First Christian Church in Marysville being an elder, a deacon and chairman of the board. An active member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, Past President of Union Pacific Employees Club, Past Secretary of the Model Aeronautics Club and Past Chairman of the Board of Marysville Credit Union. Lung cancer and bone cancer overcame Claude 14 Feb, 1998 in Marysville, Ks. He died on 14 Feb 1998 in MARYSVILLE, KS. He was buried on 17 Feb 1998 in MARYSVILLE, KS.

He was married to BETTY CHARLENE GRAY on 27 Nov 1947 in KANSAS CITY, MO. He was divorced from BETTY CHARLENE GRAY in Feb 1983 in KANSAS CITY , MO. CLAUDE MONROE JR ADAMS and BETTY CHARLENE GRAY had the following children:
