158. JAMES MONROE ADAMS was born on 22 Feb 1873 in REYNOLDS CO, MO. He died on 7 Oct 1964 in KANSAS CITY , KS. He was buried in KANSAS CITY , KS. James Monroe Adams ( Roe as he was known) was born in 1873 the same year his father Daniel S. Adams was killed as the result of an accident at a barn raising leaving Permelia Bay Adams, his mother with 4 small children to raise. Daniel had homesteaded a forty acre tract of land and was improving it: when he was killed a brother of his, James, pre-empted it from under Permelia and the children taking the home away from her. She roamed around a little trying Texas with her brother but returning to Missouri. (See a Family History of James M Adams, by James M Adams) In 1877 Permelia married Luther Dalton. The family often lived with Joseph and Emily Bay. Roe at about 14 went to live with his grandfather Joseph L. Bay and stayed there until he married at age 19. Roe was always hard working and very enterprising. He loved to have the family gathered around all together and always ended up singing around the piano as daughter, Hazel Adams Brune, played. Any occasion was occasion enough for a family gathering, usually at Hazel's or son, Claude Monroe Adams' house. Roe built many houses in the Kansas City area.

He was married to GENEVIA CATHERINE (JENNIE) EVANS (daughter of JAMES RAY EVANS and SARAH JANE BESS) on 9 Oct 1892 in COBALT, HOWELL CO, MO. GENEVIA CATHERINE (JENNIE) EVANS was born on 25 Aug 1875 in VANDALIA, IL. She died on 6 Jan 1933 in KANSAS CITY , KS. She was buried in KANSAS CITY , KS. JAMES MONROE ADAMS and GENEVIA CATHERINE (JENNIE) EVANS had the following children:
