1. JOHN KOONCE was born on 20 Jul 1675 in HEIDELBERG, BADEN-WURTTEMBERG, GERMANY ( THE PALATINE). He died on 23 Sep 1711 in CRAVEN CO., NC. NOTESfor John Koonce:
The original spelling in America was John Cunitz or Johann Cunitz. The ancient spelling was Cunys.
John, Alicia, Michael and a daughter were killed in the Tuscarora Indian Massacre at Core Creek Craven Co., NC on 23 Sept 1711. Only son Geroge survived.
John's occupation was a Husbandman and Vinedresser, in Germany.
They were of the Catholic Religion.
The family arrived in Virginia, May 1709 from England.
John's family left Germany in 1708 and settled in England until 1709 when they sailed for Virginia.
John is said to have been a founder of the Town of New Bern, NC.

He was married to ALICIA about 1693 in GERMANY. ALICIA was born in 1679 in GERMANY. She died on 23 Sep 1711 in CRAVEN CO., NC. JOHN KOONCE and ALICIA had the following children:
