7. The History of the Bellvue Valley and surrounding area. Belgrade Old Timer- Francis Marion Adams and wife, Martha Eaton Adams. Both are buried in Sunlight Cemetery. As a Civil War Veteran he was very proud of all his medals. Francis Adams Postmaster of Belgrade 8 years during the 1880's. Francis Adams, general merchant of Belgrade, was the son of Rev. Nelson and Rebecca (Stephens) Adams, both born and reared in Tennessee where they were also married. In 1830 they came to Washington County and settled in the portion included in Iron County. After the morthe died, Mr Adams married Mrs Henson. He was a farmer by occupation and formerly a Whig in politics who became a Republican. He was minister of the Baptist Church for 48 years. He was one of the old time hunters and by his first marriage became the father of 15 children.
Francis volunteered in 1862 to join Captain W T Hunter's Company of Third Mo Cavalry and served three years. After the war he taught school one term and then turned his attention to agricultural pursuits.
