My family research started as an assignment for a folklore class in high school some 25 yrs ago. Family reunions were a must in our family even then, as Daddy's family of 10 brothers and sisters, the children of Henry Clinton and Mary Catherine Ward Bauman continued to gather on the first Sunday of every August, even after they were long gone, to carry on the tradition created by Henry's brothers and sisters before them. Mama and Daddy both had had previous relationships, that's where the Chichester name appears. Mama gave my first four siblings her maiden name of Chichester, while the last five of us carry the name of my father, Bill Bauman -- Therefore, we have our own large reunions year after year as well....and you can imagine that 9 children can give Grammy and Papap a large number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, and we are still growing.
The most fun in working on this family tree of mine is finding cousins come out of the woodwork, so to speak. Messages I left ages ago on message boards are being answered even now and I'm finding 1st cousins once removed, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins! This is grand! My sister Debe and I are having a grand time, though Debe has done most of the work up til now. Unfortunately, I was living in the wrong area for awhile there, but I have since moved back home, and am able to spend time helping her find information, where I was not able to before.
