I have been looking for my grandfather(EDWARD STRAIT)for some time. I found the family in Cortland Co. New York, but i could not find Edwards childhood records. I found Edward by going on "Google" I got a hit and found Edward and his wife living in Tompkins Co. New York. This was a good find as I had no information on the wife, Carrie Patterson at NYGen Web site-Tompkins Co.,New York. The site had a book writen by Leon D. Palmer, "Reminiscences of the Patterson Family." This book information was limited due to copy right requirements. I was able to get a lot of information that i never knew about my Grandmother Carrie Patterson. I lived with an Aunt MARY L.(STRAIT)Robison,she was married to Raymond B. Robison. I went to live with them in Tucson,Arizona, about 1947.During this time i would ask Mary about her father, Edward, and I ciuld not get a positive reply. her mother had a health problem in Cortland, and died,that was all the information i could get.I joined the Conejo Valley Genealogical Society, in Thousand Oaks, Calif.I now live in Calif.I have found a lot of information at the local Family History Center Plus trips to Salt Lake City, and return trips to New York. I have found my Grandfather childhood home in Caroline , Tompkins Co., New York. and his fathers surname was"STRAIGHT". I found the trail by tracking my dad's cousin,Howard STRAIGHT to Caroline, Tompkins Co., New York. I went to Caroline last Nov. 2007, just prior to snow fall in central New York, for six weeks.
