Notes for Mary Eve Cornelius,Moody,Miller:
Mary Eva Cornelius,Moody, Miller
If she was 16 when her daughter Betsy was born and Betsy was born
1784-1794 and you figure on the 1794, then Mary Eva would be born
1778.
Thompson seems to be a name tossed around. Perhaps her maiden name
was Thompson. She seems to have gone mostly by the name of Eva.
She married John Moody in10 Jan 1799 in Madison Co. KY. She was probably
married to someone Cornelius first. Maiden name of Eva Moody
might have been Thompson. With this first husband she seems to have
had 3 children, a son and two daughters Betsy and Sarah.
A Betsy Moody married Aaron's Miller's brother David. Betsy was the
sister of Sally Moody. Both were daughters of Mary Eve/Eva who
divorced John Moody in Adair Co. KY in 1812. He had left her with six
children in 1808 according to (Margaret Kilpatrick)
Archie Miller says, "I can't find my sheet listing John Moody's marriage
about 1800 to Eve, it doesn't list her last or surname. I had come to the
conclusion that John had married Eve with three young daughters and
possibly some sons and probably had some property which he acquired
for his own purposes, for he divorced Eve and left her destitute. Margaret
sent me some papers that stated that the county officials gave money to
Eve Moody a destitute person about 1812 or 1813. Berniece you also
stated the divorce was about 1812."
A researcher says it is unreasonable to conclude that Sally Moody was a
widow at her marriage to Aaron Miller and the mother of Betsy and Mary
Eve Moody. More likely than not, because Mary Eva Moody, the mother of
Sally, Betsy, and Mary Eve, required subsistence from Adair county,
Aaron Miller was appointed guardian of Betsy and Mary Eve, although
there is no known court record that supports this conclusion. Some
family researchers have suggested that Mary Eve Moody who married
Moses Miller was the mother of Betsey and Sally. Mother Mary Eve was
under the care of Alexander Noel around the time that Mary Eva married
Moses Miller, so any stated relationship, should have been to Noel rather
than to Aaron Miller and the Mary Eva who married Moses Miller stood in
the same degree of kinship to Aaron Miller as did Betsey Moody which
would not be the case if she were of the mother of Betsey.
She married second (or third) Moses Miller Sen. 21 March 1814 in Adair
Co. KY. In another place it is listed as Isorey Miller married to Eva Moody
22 March 1811 Adair Co. KY. If she was born 1778 (age 16 in 1794 when
dau Betsy possibly was born) then at this marriage she was still only 26
years old and could have had more children with this 3rd husband.
This marriage made her a sister-in-Iaw to her daughter Betsy, David
Miller and Moses Miller were brothers and then David's brother Moses
was his step-father-in-Iaw.
(Margaret Kilpatrick) sent Berniece Swanson a picture ot Sarah Cornelius Miller/her
parents and her mother's parents plus who she thinks are the Miller clan
getting together before Moses went back to Illinois in 1854. Several
Millers left the church at Rock Creek then. If that picture is one of Mary
Eva and her last husband, then he would be Moses Miller in that picture,
and they both would have died after 1854.
