SWINDLE was born on Feb 15 1898 in Samantha Comunity, Tuscaloosa Co.,
Alabama. She died on May 9 1991. She was buried. Arbor Springs Cemetery Lived
most of her life in Berry, Fayette Co., Alabama.
Bagmamma, Mamma Bagwell. Made the best pecan pie. House had pecan trees, barn.
Side of house had a corrugated metal sheet across a slight mound (probably an
old well).
A cousin of Bagmamma, Nancy Dobbs Oliver, ran a two story hotel in Berry, AL.
Her husband was put in jail "forever"--his brother married a Carr.
Bagmamma worked in a lunchroom at school in 1950's.
July 1996: Charlene (?) said that Bagmamma "turned her out" because
she married Daddy Bagwell, who was a member of the Church Of Christ; her parents
were not members of the church.
She was married to Charles Columbus "Bagdaddy"
BAGWELL (son of Elijah Hutson BAGWELL and
Charity Ann UPTON) about 1914 in Fayette Co., Alabama. Celebrated 50th anniversary
in spring 1964. Charles Columbus "Bagdaddy"
BAGWELL was a Cobbler. "Bagdaddy was an honorary Gypsy Prince because
of his "horsetrading" ability. Ethel Lou "Bagmamma" SWINDLE
and Charles Columbus "Bagdaddy" BAGWELL had the following children:
