201. Betsy Elizabeth SWINDLE was born about 1807 in South Carolina. Possibly born in Tennessee. She died on Mar 29 1898 in Goodsprings, Walker Co., Alabama. One source has death date as 03/29/1888. She was buried in Busby Cemetery, Goodsprings, Alabama. Picture of Julia Ann Busby found that shows her parents as Stephen & Betsy Swindle Busby.

She was married to MCADAMS before 1823. MCADAMS was born in 1818 in Georgia.

She was married to Stephen BUSBY on Sep 9 1823 in Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama. Possible marriage date 09/06/1823. Stephen BUSBY was born about 1796 in South Carolina. He died in Sep 1860 in Walker Co., Alabama. He was buried in Busby Cemetery, Goodsprings, Alabama. He was a Farmer & Coal Minor. From "The Swindle Book" Jasper Library:
Stephen Busby and his wife Betsy Elizabeth had come to Alabama from S.C. around 1828 and entered government land at the confluence of Lost Creel and the Warrior River. They owned over 700 acres of land and farmed on a large scale. Stephen became the first in Walker Co. to mine coal from the creek and riverbeds. He also owned a grain mill and a cotton gin, mainly to handle his own large scale farming needs. Stephen fell from a fodder stack on his farm and died in 1860.

Steven was Irish Descent settled in S.C. during colonial days. Came to Alabama abt 1828. Betsy Elizabeth SWINDLE and Stephen BUSBY had the following children:
