21. Michael SWINDLE was born between 1740 and 1743 in Virginia. Possible birth date of abt 1759. From Richard/Carol Grennan 06/15/1997, E-Mail. He signed a will on Jul 3 1809. He died on Jul 3 1815 in Laurens Co., South Carolina. He had an estate probated on Jul 8 1815. Probate could have been 07/08/1815. He was buried in Popular Springs Bap. Church Cem., Laurens Co., South Carolina. 1763 deeded land to Timothy Swindle and Rebecca (his parents), per "Abstracts Clever Co., 1763-1764, p 8.

1773 - bought land in Madison Co., VA in a place called Island Run, now known as White Oak Run, from James Barbour, Sr.

Michael left Virginia, for South Carolina about 1789. His will in Laurens Co., SC list sons as John, Daniel, and George. Daughters are listed as Lucy Saxon and Delilia Swindle.

12/12/1789 - 03/15/1790:
John Saxon (of Laurens) sold to Michael Swindle (of Abbeville) and John Stephens (of Laurens) for 1300 weight of nut tobacco to be delivered at Charleston the delivered at Charleston the first day in November next, a brown house... a bay mare and colt by her side... four cows and calves... wit: James Thompson, James Stephens (Laurens Record-Nash.

02/27/1793 & 12/09/1795 - land plate, p. 196, shows Michael owned land situated on the Saluda River in 96 Dist, Abbeville, SC.

1801 - bought 400 acres of land on the Reedy River for $400.00 from Charles Tenant (Deed Book G, p. 229.

1801 - Michael and Elizabeth sold land to William Powell (L.D.S. Family History Center microfilm Roll # 0024084)

03/25/1809 - sold 62 acres (plantation) to William Cole for $124.00 on waters of Reedy River.

07/14/1810 - sold 200 acres of land located on the Reedy River to John Phillips, George Swindle signed as a witness. (John Phillips was the son-in-law of Michael Swindle. John was married to Hannah Swindle.

1810 - Michael sold his home place and 310 acres to John Stephens. (Michael was about 65 years old and Elizabeth was already dead.)

09/09/1811 - Michael sold 154 acres to James Clardy on the waters of the Reedy River for $162.00.
The date of marriage was obtained by using the Will of Elizabeth's father which was dated 10/13/1785, in which he named his daughter, Elizabeth Swindle.

He was married to Elizabeth UTZ (daughter of Michael UTZ Sr. and Susannah CRIGLER) before Oct 13 1785 in Virginia. Elizabeth UTZ was born about 1750 in Culpepper Co.(Now Madison Co.), Virginia. She died between 1805 and 1809 in Laurens Co., South Carolina. Michael SWINDLE and Elizabeth UTZ had the following children:
