10. Timothy SWINDLE was born between 1715 and 1720 in Virginia. He died about 1790 in Culpepper Co.(Now Madison Co.), Virginia. He was buried in Culpepper Co.(Now Madison Co.), Virginia. Timothy was a Minuteman in the early militia. He served in the Clever Militia in the King George War of 1744- 1748 and also saw service in the French and Indian War.

Per Militia Roster of March 1756 Timothy Swindle was a foot soldier in the Clever Militia for seven days. ("Virginia Colonel Soldiers" , p. 162)

One source shows him born in England and coming to Virginia as an indentured servant.

The name swindle comes from tender of swine or hog farmer, according to one source..

Timothy and all three of his sons were listed as taxpayers in Clever Co., VA between 1782 and 1787.

On 12/06/1816 Timothy sold 170 acres of land to Hannah Swindle foe $400. This land was part of a tract of land where George Swindle lived located in Laurens Co., SC. on the Saluda River. It was assigned to Timothy Swindle as a part as a legatee of the state. Following the transaction was an affavit stating that Ruth Swindle was the wife of Timothy and she relinquished her claim of Dower.

He was married to Rebecca CREES (daughter of Lawrence CREES and Marie Euphrosina SCHOTT) in 1746 in Culpepper Co.(Now Madison Co.), Virginia. Rebecca CREES was born about 1722 in Stuttgart, Germany. She died after 1777 in Culpepper Co.(Now Madison Co.), Virginia. She was buried in Culpepper Co.(Now Madison Co.), Virginia. Crees is spelling in Stuttgart, Germany. Greys is spelling in USA.
Rebecca Swindell was a communicant in 1775, 1776, & 1778 at Hebron Lutheran Church. Timothy was not listed. Timothy SWINDLE and Rebecca CREES had the following children:
