463. William P. "Wid" SWINDLE was born on Feb 28 1840 in Walker Co., Alabama. He appeared on the census in 1850 in Walker Co., Alabama. 11 in 1850. He appeared on the census in 1880 in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. He died on Apr 8 1898 in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. Wid was shot and killed by two brothers, Bluse and Tih Steel. They were sentenced to 5 years in prison. Court case #2903 in Sept. 1898. He was buried in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Tombstone reads 1840. Shot and killed in an ambush in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. Two men convicted of killing him. According to court records Bluse and Tilt Steel were convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 5 years in the Mississippi State Penitentiary for killing "Wid".

Moved to Itawamba Co., Ms. abt 1875.

He was married to Millie EVANS on Jan 4 1884. Millie EVANS was born in 1860. She died on Sep 28 1926. She was buried in Old Ridge Cemetery. William P. "Wid" SWINDLE and Millie EVANS had the following children:

He was married to Ollie RUTLEDGE (daughter of Edward RUTLEDGE and Elizabeth LOGAN) in 1862 in Walker Co., Alabama. Ollie RUTLEDGE was born in 1846 in Walker Co., Alabama. She died in 1882 in Itawamba Co., Mississippi. Buried 50 yards behind home place in family cemetery. William P. "Wid" SWINDLE and Ollie RUTLEDGE had the following children:
