36. Willis SWINDLE was born on Mar 6 1763 in Hyde Co., North Carolina. He appeared on the census in 1790 in Hyde Co., North Carolina. 26 to 45 living with i male under 16 and two females. He appeared on the census in 1800 in Hyde Co., North Carolina. 26 to 45 and living with 1 male under 10, 1male 10 to 16, 3 females under 10, 2 females 10 to 16. He was Primative Baptist in 1808. Pvt. Willis Swindell (b. 6 March 1763, d. 9 May 1851), son of Josiah Swindell, Sr., was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He appears as the head of a household in the 1790 census living with 1 male under 16 and 2 females. He recorded his mark at May Court 1792. In the 1800 census of Hyde, he is 26 to 45 and lives with 1 male under 10, 1 male 10 to 16, 3 famales under 10, and 2 females 10 to 16. Apparently his wife had died before the 1800 census because by the 1810 census he is once again living with a female in his age group (26 to 45), 1 male under 10, 1 male 10 to 16, 2 females under 10, 2 females 10 to 16 and 1 female 16 to 26. At August Court, 1801, he was appointed patroler in Capt. Thomas Daniel's District. In 1808, he is listed as a member of the South Mattamuskeet Primitive Baptist Church. Willis Swindell and his family remained in Hyde County until sometime after the 1810 census. He appears in the 1830 census of Randolph County, N. C. Also in Randolph's 1830 census is his son, Allen Swindell (b.c. 1789, Hyde County). Allen Swindell was married in Randolph County on 5 January 1828 to Nancy Swaim. She was born circa 1808 in Randolph County (?) and is believed to have died there in 1850 at the age of 42. On 6 May 1809, Willis Swindell had another son, Ashley, who was born in Hyde County. Willis Swindell died at the age of 88 and is buried in Madison County, Indiana.

He was married to (UNKNOWN). (UNKNOWN) was born about 1765 in Hyde Co., North Carolina. She died before 1810 in Hyde Co., North Carolina. Willis SWINDLE and (UNKNOWN) had the following children:
