Francis Frank PILBROW ⁽¹¹⁰⁾ was born on 2 Mar 1855 in 8 Cambridge Rd, Bethnal Green.^{(1) (111) (112)} He was baptised on 26 Dec 1858 in St.Sepulchre, London.. ⁽⁵⁹⁾ With three brothers and sisters of various ages. He was a Baths Proprietor in 1874.⁽³⁾ He was a House Proprietor from 1878 to 1883. ^(113)(114) He lived at Earle Lodge, Bow Rd in 1879 in Bow, E.London.⁽⁴⁾ He lived at 47 Bow Rd, Poplar in 1880.^{(88) (115)} Not at this address in 1881 census but brother John Smith PILBROW "house owner" is at no.49. He appeared on the census on 3 Apr 1881 in 59 Compton Rd, Islington.. ⁽¹¹⁶⁾ Boarder. Marr. Age 26. Annuitant. b.Suffolk, Ipswich [?] He was declared bankrupt in Apr 1883.⁽¹¹⁷⁾ The Times 25 Apr 1883 reads "Francis Frank Pilbrow, alias Edwords [sic], alias Captain Edards, alias Francis of Cheshunt Herts declared baknrupt. Hearing to be held 2nd Mat, Edmonton.*

*FF's estranged wife Alice was also in Edmonton at the time.

He lived at Cheshunt, Herts on 25 Apr 1883.⁽¹¹⁸⁾ He was involved in a court case on 24 May 1883 in Mansion House, London. ⁽¹¹⁹⁾ Charged with forging documents relating to a quantity of timber to the value of £700. Case was dismissed but details recorded in the Times - copy of the original on record. He was involved in a court case in 1884 in Various Places.⁽¹²⁰⁾ At Stratford, Francis Frank and "housekeeper" Elizabeth Day were charged with various crimes. They were bailed for £100 each. All details on record in file.

N.B. This shows that FF was living with Elizabeth Day from this time until they married in 1909. FF's wife Alice had already left, the year before pregnant with Ada Robina. Verbal recollection is that Alice left after FF was found in bed with French Governess (Housekeeper). This seems to substantiate the claim, especially as they eventually married in France. Strange that Elizabeth has such an English name thought. He lived at 2 Stanley Road in 1884 in Ilford, Essex.. ⁽¹²¹⁾ Living with Elizabeth Day (Housekeeper) He lived at Railshead in 1884 in Isleworth, Middlesex.^{(4) (122)} He was a Surveyor from 1884 to 1909. ⁽¹²³⁾ He lived at Hounslow between 1889 and 1891 in Middlesex.⁽¹²⁴⁾ Tow children born in Hounslow at the dates. He lived at Lampton Road between 1892 and 1910 in Heston, Middlesex.^{(88) (29)} He lived at The Market, Broadstairs in 1897 in Broadstairs, Kent. ^(88)(125) Actual birth is in Belmont Road. Family legend says that FFP was mayor Broadstairs. Not confirmed. The birth certificate shows FFP as William F PILBROW. He appeared on the census on 31 Mar 1901 in 1 Wellington Square, Chelsea. ⁽¹²⁶⁾ age 46, surveyor, employer, b.Bethnal Green He was an of Independent Means in 1908. ⁽¹²⁷⁾ He lived at 105 Church Rd, Richmond between 1914 and 1922 in Richmond, Surrey.^{(7) (127)} He was a Builder from 1921 to 1926. He died on 11 Dec 1927 in 39 Kings Rd, Brighton.⁽⁵⁾ age 74, lacktal hemiplogia, cirrhosis of liver. Daughter Lillie present at death. He was also known as Captain EDWARDS.⁽¹²⁸⁾ He was also known as William Francis PILBROW.⁽⁴⁾ No will. Searched Somerset House 1858 to 1948.

Described as a minor on MC and baths proprietor. Address given as Church St - Whitechapel baths under owner ship of John.L.Pilbrow on 1871 census. FF Pilbrow not in Church St on 1871 census. His father owned the baths according to his will in 1873.

"Elizabeth & FFP were at Stainswick Farm, B , Wiltshire AEWD ? see m cert. 105 Church Rd had (& has) in stained glass over front door "Stainswick", and when it was sold just after the war a Pilbrow (Dorothy's brother, Reg?) had to sign as trustee."

27. Alice FULLSTONE was born on 2 Feb 1858 in 34 Well St, Mile End New Town, Stepney.⁽¹⁾ She appeared on the census on 7 Apr 1861 in 34 Well St, Mile End New Town, Stepney. Age 3. Daughter of J.Fullstone. b Mile End New Town. She lived at Church St, Whitechapel in 1874.⁽³⁾ She lived at Camberwell from 1876 to 1878.⁽⁵⁹⁾ She lived at Earle Lodge, Bow Rd in 1879 in Bow, E.London. ⁽⁴⁾ She lived at 47 Bow Rd, Poplar in 1880. ⁽⁸⁸⁾ She appeared on the census on 3 Apr 1881 in 59 Compton Rd, Islington.. ⁽¹²⁹⁾ Age 22. Wife/Boarder. b.London, Mile End. She lived at 47 Gilpin Grove, Edmonton in 1883. ⁽⁸⁸⁾ Not there on 1891 census. She appeared on the census on 31 Mar 1901 in 30 Cranbrook Road, Walthamstow.⁽¹³⁰⁾ age 42, wife of Charles BELL, b Mile End Road, London (NB. Former husband FFP was still alive and living in Chelsea, claiming to be the husband of Elizabeth DAY) She was also known as Alice BELL. Lived with Mr.BELL and assumed name? Mayfield St, Dalston. Not on 1891 census there.
Left husband at time of birth of Ada and lived with Charles BELL. In 1901 she claims to be his wife, but former husband was still alive. Children were:

i. Alice Maude Sophia PILBROW was born about 1876 in Camberwell, Surrey. ⁽⁸⁾ She appeared on the census on 5 Apr 1891 in 4 Prospect Place, St.Peters, Isle of Thanet, Kent.. Age 14, boarder, scholar, b.London, Camberwell. She appeared on the census on 31 Mar 1901 in 64 Talbot Rd, East Ham. ⁽¹³¹⁾ age 25, wife of REC, b.Bow, Essex
ii. Frank Francis William Willis PILBROW was born about May 1878 in Mile End. He died on 8 Sep 1878 in 27 Aesbury Road, Peckham. ^(132)(5) Informant was aunt, M.Skingles, of same address. Presumably, young FFWW died at his aunt's house,as no other ecord of parents living in Peckham. Died of Aphshalmia & Exhaustion.
iii. Frank Albert PILBROW died in 1879 in Poplar, E.London. ⁽¹³³⁾ He was born on 26 Jun 1879 in Earle Lodge, Bow Rd, Bow, E.London. ⁽¹⁾
iv. Lillie/Lily Gertrude PILBROW⁽¹³⁴⁾ was born on 29 Jun 1880 in 47 Bow Road, Poplar, E.London. ⁽¹⁾ She appeared on the census on 3 Apr 1881 in 59 Compton Rd, Islington.. ⁽¹³⁵⁾ Age 10 months. b.Islington She appeared on the census on 31 Mar 1901 in 1 Wellington Square, Chelsea. ⁽¹³⁶⁾ age 20, dressmaker, worker, b.Bow Road, London. She lived at 32 Lillington Street in Dec 1908 in Belgravia.⁽³⁾ She witnessed on 11 Dec 1927 in 39 Kings Rd, Brighton. ⁽²²⁾ She was also known as Lillie MOUNTSTEPHENS. Ran the boarding-house at Brighton
