Thornton-McCoy, Slaughter-Booker, Brent-Kent, Home Page

(1) DAVIS THORNTON born 1828 and died 1902 in Allegany, New York where it appears that he arrived as an adult. He married ABIGAL MCCOY(b 1836 - d 1856). They had one child, WILLIAM HENRY THORNTON (b. May 21, 1856 d. Feb. 19, 1911) in Cattauraugus County, New York. DAVIS married Lidia Ann Frank after the death of his first wife. The children of the second marriage were Abigail, Kate and Mary. Davis is quite a dead end. We don't know where he came from, who his parents were, or even if Davis Thornton was his real name!!
(2) SLAUGHTER family in Virginia. Devereaux Jarrett Claiborne Slaughter born in Dinwiddie County, Va., November 8, 1817; married Mary F. Pettit in Amherst County, Va.; died November 6, 1870. He was a Methodist minister. Trying to determine the parents of Devereaux Slaughter. It is possible that the Claiborne was his mother's name.

(3) BRENT family in Virginia. JOHN T. BRENT born ?, died 1938 married ELIZABETH RADFORD KENT, born January 16, 1860, died June 1961 (age 101). Elizabeth Kent's parents were WILLIAM H. KENT and CATHERINE COX. I have no dates or locations.

(4) I have a great deal of information on the RICHARD BOOKER and HANNAH HAND MARSHALL BOOKER family of Virginia. I will be very happy to share this information.

(5) MCCRACKEN family in Pennsylvania. James McCracken was born on the ship that brought his parents to PA from Northern Ireland ca 1753. Nothing is known of his parents or other members of his family. He married Sarah Rebecca Greenwood in 1774. They were among the first white settlers of Clearfield County, PA. Would love any information about his parents.
