"The Blooming Grove Methodist Episcopal Church, South was organized and the buildin g erected in 1838. The first church of worship was a log building. This was built by Thoma s M. McDonald, who came from North Carolina in 1837 and settled one mile from the church. H e donated six acres of land for the church and cemetery. Thomas M. McDonald was born Dec 9 , 1800, died May 11, 1859. His wife, Susan M. (Alexander) McDonald, was born in 1807, die d Oct. 28, 1873. Thier children were Emoline, Susan (McDonald) Ezzell, Margaret (McDonald) G oldsby, Ann (McDonald) Perkins, Salitha (McDonald) McElroy, Martha (McDoanld) Costen, Harriet t (McDonald) Delaney, Mary Narcissus (McDonald) Miller, David Addison McDonald, and Thomas Al exander McDonald."
