Will of Edward Thomas - Albemarle Co., VA Dated 13th day of Dec., 1758

I Edward Thomas of Albemarle County of sound mind and memory ------- do make and constit ute this my last will and testement.............Item: I give & bequeath to my Eldest son Wil liam Thomas one hundred acres of land; part of the tract I now live on, & boundries followet h to wit: Beginning at John Thomas's upper corner on the River running on his said line to t he back line, thence up the back line to a new line on the north fork of the Millstone branch , so down the branch on a new mark'd line to the creek so down the s'd cr. to the River; then ce down the River to the Fur Station .........excepting the Orchard during my life which sai d land I give to him & His assigns forever. I give to him his cattle that he has in his poss ession, of his hogs, same, and that to be his part: Item: I give & bequeth to my son John Th omas the remainder of the land I now live on which said land I give to him his heirs forever . I also give him one bed & furniture and that to be his part: Item: I give & bequeth to m y daughter Martha Goldsby six pounds Currant money of Virginia which said 6 pounds not to b e paid to her til three years after my death. Item: I give to my daughter Susannah Stephen s the bed she lies on & forty shillings currant money to be paid three years after my death : Item: I give to my daughter Elizbeth Thomas six pounds currant money to be paid three yea rs after my decease: Item my will & device is that the rest of my estate not before mention ed of what kind whatsoever I lend to my well beloved wife Mary Thomas, in lieu of Dower and a t her death my desire is that my estate be equally divided between my three daughters befor e mentioned Item my Will & pleasure is that my estate be not appraised: Item I constitut e & appoint my brother, John Thomas and my son, John Thomas, executors of this my Last Will a nd Testament: Item: I publish, declare, this to be my Last ...........set my hand & seal th is the 13th day of December 1758.
