Miles Edmund Bacon (b. November 6, 1855, d. July 1941)

Miles Edmund Bacon (son of William Allan Bacon and Susannah Fallis) was born November 6, 1855 in Melville, Caledon Township, Ontario, and died July 1941 in Melville, Caledon Township, Ontario. He married Catherine Lamb on March 23, 1881.

Source: Marg McFarlane (2000): 1902 Miles obtained a land grant in SE Saskatchewan near Wordsworth.
He states that he has a wife and one son living in Toronto but that he has had absolutely no communication with either of them for 8 years, which would be about 1894.
In 1901 a business directory for Toronto lists Catherine Bacon dressmaker. The author assumes this was Catherine Amelia and that she was supporting herself and Charles Wesley in this manner.
Land grant papers received by the author also indicate that Miles had tried to get land that his brother James had applied for to be held in trust for James' children. The author gathered that James had applied for his land grant in March 1902 and then died before the paperwork was done in May 1902. Apparently, James and his wife had 8 children and lived in Chicago. Miles was designated Guardian under James' will. If you got a land grant, you had to live on it and since James was dead and Miles had his own land grant that he had to live on, there was a lot of wrangling as to whether or not the government would give Miles the Land Grant to be held in Turst for James' children. After 5 years of legal wrangling, the land was finally granted to Miles in Trust.
