Story as told by Margaretta Bacon, wife of John (Jack) Bacon (son of David):
"John (Jack) was known as 'old Jack'. He was jailed for cruelty, etc. for two years. He had a child to one of his daughters (Bessie?). He drowned the baby. His sister Jane reported him and as a result the family was split up and sent to different homes."
