Includes NotesNotes for Wallace (Wally) James Galak:
Wally lived as a "hermit", spending most of his adult life in his bedroom, ocassionally going to the bathroom and kitchen. This was the result of being in WWII. While learning to fly a glider airplane, the plane crashed and he walked away from
the accident, lived in the fields eating watermelon and went AWOL. Somehow he made it back home, but didn't let anyone know. He hid in the basement.

Nobody knew he was missing from the Service. Mom said she would often see a man that looked at lot like Wally in the neighborhood. They then found him in the basement. The Servicemen took him away, then found him a job, but he got so nervous
that they had him taken home.

He then got a job working in a bakery with Mom - he was pretty normal for a few years, then lost his job and tried another job, but he had a nervous breakdown and stayed home all the time, refusing to go anywhere, not even to a doctor.
