City UT, lists the birth year of A.J. Sr as 1818. He was buried in Aug 1896 in Kensler Cemetery, Keokuk Co, IA.⁽⁷⁾ Andrew Jackson Ulin Sr. is buried in section 16 (sw) in Kensler Cemetery. He died on 18 Aug 1896 in Hayesville IA, Keokuk Co, Warren Twp. ⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ He has reference number 11. BIOGRAPHY: Andrew Jackson Ulin Sr. and his family came from Ohio by covered wagon to Wapello Co, IA near Comatine; the trip took 5 weeks. In 1870 they moved to a farm east of Harper IA. In 1875 they moved to a farm west of Hayesville IA in Warren township. Andrew built and operated several grist mills on the Skunk River.

Was a member of the Miller-Militia (therefore migrated to Iowa in 1854).

Was one of the founders of the Christian Church in the NW corner of section 34 of Hardin Co OH; organized about 1843. About 1844-45 society erected log church edifice; A.J. replaced his father Benjamin as deacan of the church. The society was large and prosperous until large number of their members moved west.

A.J. Ulin Sr. was confined to his bed almost constantly for the four months prior to his death and he was never heard to complain. When he realized that his time was short, he called his family together and talked to them about the joys of Heaven, urging them to live with the law of God.

A.J. Sr. died of heart trouble at the age of 86 yrs, 11 mos, 11 das.

He was married to Elizabeth OBENOUR (daughter of Harmon OBENOUR and Christina AKERMAN) on 18 Apr 1840 in Hardin Co, OH. Elizabeth OBENOUR⁽⁹⁾ was born on 30 Jul 1819 in Canton OH, Stark Co.⁽⁷⁾ CONFLICT: 1900 Keokuk Co IA Census lists the birth year of Elizabeth as
1819 and the Keokuk Co Cem records list it as 1818.

The "ULIN, Desc'dts of Benjamin Ulin, Also Corpron, Shaver, Menifee,
etc", US & CAN, 929.273, A1, #2493, also lists her birth year as 1819. She was buried in Jul 1915 in Kensler Cem, Keokuk Co, IA. ⁽⁷⁾ Elizabeth (Obenour) Ulin is buried in section 16 of Kensler Cemetery. She died on 15 Jul 1915 in Hayesville IA, Keokuk Co. ⁽⁷⁾⁽⁸⁾ Elizabeth was one of 15 children of Harmon Obenour and Christina Akerman.
