My great-grandmother,Augusta Redlewski, came to the US from Prussia in 1883 with 2 sons, Gustav(3) and Adolph(11mos). My Grandfather was Adolph, he died when he was 34 yrs old. My Father was Emil Carl Redlewski (later changed to Alfred Charles Wagner)and he was 2 yrs old when Adolph died. His Mother (Martha Brandt) remarried John Wagner(Celoff?). My father was the youngest of 4 children, the only sibling i am aware of was Walter Redlewski(2 yrs older than my father)but according to my father's birth certificate there were also 2 sisters.
On my Mother's side, my great-grandfather, John Rod, was Sheriff of Monroe County, Michigan sometime during the 1800's. He had changed his name to Rod when running for Sheriff because he didn't think anyone would vote for someone named "Ratke". While sheriff, his wife, was the cook at the jail and because of her cooking the jail was known as "Rod's Hotel". My grandfather, Fritz Schultz, and my grandmother, Wilhelmina Carolina Rod, had 4 children; Dorothy, Fritz, Mildred and my Mother,Henrietta Marie. My Grandfather, Fritz Schultz, served in the Michigan Militia during the Spanish/American War in Cuba. He contracted Malaria while in Cuba. He was killed in an accident at the Solvey Plant, Detroit on Good Friday, 1934.
