son of Philip IV of France, claimed the throne of France in 1316 for himself,
after maneuvering his niece, Jane/Jean, out of her rightful succession to the
throne. His reign of only six years ended in 1322. Philip's brother, Louis
X had left Jane, as well as Louis' 2nd wife as heirs, the wife, pregnant, delivered
a son John/Jean I who died after a few days or weeks, leaving Philip the right
to claim the throne, succeeding the MALE infant. His succession was confirmed
by the French Assembly in 1617, claiming the right by Salic Law. He ruled from
1316 to 1322, and was succeeded by his brother, Charles IV. He Regent to niece

Charles IV of France inherited the kingdom of Navarre upon the death of his
brother, Philip V, King of France. This kingdom was supposed to have gone to
their niece, Jane, daughter of their older brother, Louis X, but she was denied
both succession to the throne of France, but her rightful inheritance to the
Kingdom of Navarre, which had been her grandmothers. Jane claimed her right
to Navarre when Charles IV died in 1328. He Ruled Kingdom of France between
1322 and 1328 in France.(580) Charles
IV, the fair, youngest son of Philip IV, became the third son to gain the throne
of France since his father died in 1314. Charles IV succeeded his brothers Louis
X and Philip V to the throne in 1322. He reigned until 1328, and was succeeded
by a cousin, Philip VI, the Fortunate. He died on 21 Feb 1328 in France. He
