She accompanied him to the Holy Land, and lived at Acre from 1191-1192; during his campaign against the Saracens. She lived at Poitou during the time he was prisoner (1192-1194). She became estranged after his release, and after he died in 1199 she lived mostly at Le Mans in Maine, Anjou, France. She d. about 1230. She Crusader in 1191/92 in Acre, Holy Land. She resided Poitou between 1192 and 1194 in France. She resided LeMans after 1194. She died about 1230 in LeMans, Maine, France. She Founder of Abbey L'Espan aft 1194 in LeMans, France. She was buried in Abbey of L'Epau. Berengaria, Queen of England, wife of Richard I. She and Richard had no children. After his death in 1199 she retired to Orleans, and founded the Abbey of L'Espan. Daughter of Sancho VI of Navarre. She joined Richard 1st of England (Richard the Lionhearted) on the 3rd crusade to the Holy Land in 1191. She met him at Reggio, Italy, they were married on the island of Cyprus. She accompanied him to Acre, and resided there (1191-1192) while he waged campaign against the Saracens. When he was taken and held prisoner at Poitou (1192-94) and was held for ransom, she lived nearby. They became estranged after his release. He died in 1199, and she then lived in Le Mans in Maine. She died about 1230.
