FOURTH GENERATION

8. Edward Wilson WALKER (17) (18) Photo was born on 23 Feb 1851 in Monroe Co, OH. He died on 21 Aug 1920 in Pawnee, Sangamon Co, IL.(19) The Death Certificate, issued by Sangamon Co, IL, states several discrepencies from other sources. His birthday is listed as 18 Jan 1851, his father's name is written as A.J. Walker from Ohio, and his mother's birth place is listed as Pennsylvania. It states that Edward's mother's maiden name is Love. The informant, on the death certificate, was H.J. Newcomer. The undertaker handling the burial was C.L. Jones of Rochester, IL. It was previously thought that Edward's fathers name was James Amos, but information gathered at the "Walker-Mooney Family Reunion" in 1984 shows that most of the information from H.J. Newcomer was correct.

Edward died of Diabetis Mellites.

He was buried on 23 Aug 1920 in Roy Brunc Cem, Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. Edward was probably born in Enoch Twp, Monroe Co, OH. Sometime in 1851, Enoch Township became part of the newly formed Noble Co, OH.

The 1880 census shows Edward living with his first wife, Velma, in Cotton Hill Twp, Sangamon Co, IL. No children were listed.

The census of 1920, Sangamon Co, IL, states that Edward's father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Ohio. He owned a farm in Cotton Hill Twp, Sangamon Co, IL. The census was taken on 3 Jan 1920. At this time, his son, James Wilson Walker, and their daughter-in-law, Florence Irene (McKinney) Walker were living with them.
He was married to Ella Marie HILDRETH on 8 Sep 1897 in Pawnee, Sangamon Co, IL.(20)

9. Ella Marie HILDRETH(21) (22)(23) was born in 1865 in Sangamon Co, IL.(23) She was born on 18 Oct 1866 in Salinas, Monterey Co, CA.. She died on 15 Nov 1947 in Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL.(24) According to her death certificate, Ella died from Cardiac decompensation due to Cardio-vascular renal disease.
She was buried on 17 Nov 1947 in Roy Brunc Cem, Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. (24) She has Ancestral File number 1L3M-CG0. (23) Ella was the second wife of Edward Wilson Walker. As told by Florence Irene (McKinney) Walker, Ella's family traveled from California to Illinois by covered wagon. It seems that her family had gone to California by wagon train, didn't like it, and returned to Illinois by the same means.

According to the 1920 census for Sangamon Co, IL, her father was born in Kentucky, and her mother was born in Illinois.

Ella had four daughters when she married Edward. Nothing is known of her first spouse, except that his name may have been Kirby.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ancestral File lists an Ella M. Heldreth with the parents listed as Jonathan R. Heldreth and Malinda A. Safely. The dates and similar family names lead me to believe that this is the same Ella Hildreth that married Edward Walker. More research will be done to verify this.
Children were:

child4 i. James Wilson WALKER.
