EIGHTH GENERATION

182. William SNODGRASS (307) (308)(309) (310)(311) was born about 1746 in Tomahawk Springs, Frederick Co, VA. William was born by Tomahawk Springs, Frederick Co, VA [WV] on the farm that is now summer Camp Tomahawk. He lived with parents and siblings in 1750 by Martinsburg's West King Street, about a mile west of the exit on I81 of today. Frederick Co, VA became part of West Virginia in 1863.
He died on 12 Nov 1808 in Pickaway Co, OH. He was buried in Mt Pleasant Cem, Green Twp, Ross Co, OH. William and Sarah lived by Nollville in west Martinsburg in their marriage house on the north third of his dad's farm, since it gives by John Sr.'s will that he got the part by Haefener. Sarah could have been a Haefner, since William appears to have married and lived on his dad's farm on the side adjacent to Frederick Haefner, until he moved to Pickaway Co, OH. Maybe Frederick's probate in some county has a Sarah Snodgrafs. (source: Mendall Snodgrass, Jr.)

William and Sarah decided that they could wandervogel with the best of them, so they sold out 11 Sep 1807 and took off to Ohio. Recorded in Berkeley Co, VA Deed Book 19, 21 Sep 1807. William took a mortgage from Adam and Samuel Christy.

Maybe Frederick's probate in some county has a Sarah Snodgrafs.

According to L. Darrell Nelson, Jr., "The Wrench Tribes: A Comprehensive History of the Wrench Family" lists Sarah's surname as Campbell.
