6. James Franklin MAYHALL ⁽¹⁶⁾ was born on 11 Oct 1902 in Portage Des Sioux, St Charles Co, MO. He served in the military between Oct 1919 and May 1923. James joined the Navy in the spring of 1918, at age 16, and was released when his age was discovered. He then joined the Army, 7 Oct 1919, through the Illinois Reserve Militia, and served in The Phillipine Islands May 1920 - May 1923. He was honorably discharged 15 May 1923 at Ft McDowell, California. James served with the 16th Company in Manilla Bay, The Phillipines. He was on Corregidor Island in January 1921. He died on 1 Jan 1955 in Godfrey, Madison Co, IL. He was buried on 3 Jan 1955 in Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey, IL. James lived in Alton, Madison Co, IL and is buried in Valhalla Memorial Park, Good Shepherd addition, Godfrey, IL. He was married to Ann Louise HOWELL on 13 Sep 1923 in St Louis, MO.

7. Ann Louise HOWELL (Private). Children were:

i. Betty Irene MAYHALL was born on 21 Jul 1924 in Chautauqua, Jersey Co, IL. She died on 22 Jul 1924 in Chautauqua, Jersey Co, IL. Died hours after birth. She was buried in Scenic Hills Cem, Grafton, IL. Buried in the Brown plot.

iv. Laura May MAYHALL was born on 12 Jun 1929 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. She died on 15 Oct 1929 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. Died at 4 months, 3 days. Thought to have died from a bad can of Eagle brand milk. Probably died from "Infant Death Syndrome", commonly called "crib death". She was buried in Scenic Hills Cem, Grafton, IL. Buried in the Mayhall plot. Born at home on Pearl Street, Alton, Illinois.

viii. Martha Jane MAYHALL was born on 13 Sep 1941 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. She died on 28 Aug 1975 in Alton, Madison Co, IL. Murdered by her second husband, Gerald Pruitt. Pruitt was sentenced to 5 - 15 years in the state penitentiary. Served only two years and was parolled. She was buried in Valhalla Cem, Godfrey, IL. She is buried by her father. Born at home, 1322 Monroe Street, Alton, Illinois.
